A new waterproof material developed by Swiss chemists made it possible to have a fabric clothing that would never get wet and be as dry before it went in the water.
Lead researcher Stefan Seeger at the University of Zurich suggested the fabric is made from polyester fibres coated with millions of tiny silicone filaments, and it is the most water-repellent clothing-appropriate material ever created.
If water was spilled on the clothing, the drops of water would stay as spherical balls on top of the fabric as you can see in the image above and the clothing only need to be tilted by 2 degrees from horizontal in order to make the droplets roll off the surface. Continue reading…
If you happened to miss the YouTube Live event because of the time zone difference or some other reasons, just wanted to let you know that you can still watch the full show online. YouTube Live, no, it has nothing to do with Windows Live is YouTube’s first ever live streamed event. The event took place on November 22nd, 2008, streamed live from San Francisco and the event “[p]art concert, part variety show and part party, the event brought to life many of the amazing videos and talent that YouTube viewers have already made popular.”
Yes, Obama girl was there, you also have the guy who shoves anything down his blender, the guy who gives out free hugs to everyone and many, many more. Well known celebrity such as Will.i.am and Akon was also there singing live in YouTube Live.
The whole show appears to have gone fairly well and pretty successful. However, YouTube did not release the traffic numbers from Saturday’s live webcast. But press release Monday said that YouTube Live videos generated 2.5 million views in the 24 hours after the event.

Well, it’s no longer “Live”, duh, but ya, it is the exact full show that was showing online on Nov 22nd night because I did managed to see the whole show live online. But before you start watching, make sure you have 2 hours to burn.

But before I do that, let me explain what happened to ISeeTech in the past few days. The reason why all this happened is because our hosting provider is making a huge server move. I could not believe the whole process took more than 2 days but it did. And after the server move is complete, I realized some of my files and my database is missing. Luckily, I do backup my files regularly and was able to recover the lost. So, don’t keep hypnotizing yourself that your files are always safe and problems such as file lost or file corrupt will never happen to you. Do backup your files and database regularly because it will really save you one day.
Ok, now that it’s over, let’s get over to Entrecard discussion. As you can see from the picture above, the drops I get from Entrecard has declined because I did not drop for the past few days and could not receive any drops because my site is down. My popular rating on Entrecard has dropped from over 1800 down to 800 and was no longer on the top 3 spots in my category. But I’m not planning to stay at 800 for long. So, I hoped that this post will help and show new Entrecarders that it is possible for you to increase your drop back too and I’m going to use back the same strategy I used when I got my first 300 drops back. No, I’m not a fortune teller or someone with psychic powers and such but security experts at PC Tools have pinpointed November 24 as the potential peak of malicious software activity for 2008.
Expects at PC tools (who own Spyware doctor) have analyzed information on viruses and internet worms taken from over 500,000 machines around the world and advised users to be alert while surfing or shopping online during the holiday season.
Data from 2007 showed that the high point of action from viruses, worms and other internet-based attacks came three days before America’s Thanksgiving holiday, leading them to suggest that the same day could prove the bleakest 24 hours of this year.
The company says the increase in virus activity could be the result of internet shopping in the run-up to Christmas, as millions of users begin going online to purchase gifts for their friends and family. With the chance for criminals to access financial details, online shoppers make an attractive target for the writers of malware.
Technology is playing an increasingly important role in our daily life. More and more mechanical devices are turning digital as the day goes by, and guess what? Even tombstones are digitalized nowadays. A German carpenter has designed the digital tombstone that allows you to play slideshow of photographs of the deceased person while they are still alive.
“With tombstones, it’s not like we are selling coffee machines. There has to be a demand for what we are offering. People won’t just buy it because they think it’s a good product. I have to say the feedback is very positive,” said the German carpenter, creator of the digital tombstone.
The battery-operated monitor is protected by a wooden lid and it can display slideshows or pictures of the lost one. However, it will not play music or the voice of lost one because it is against the German cemetery regulation. The digital tombstone is selling for almost USD 6500 each.
You might be aware that similar project such as virtual-reality cooking has been achieved before but researchers in Birmingham are ready to take this a step further. They are planning to develop new technology to add smells to the virtual world of video games.
“What we are experiencing from reports coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq is that when the troops get there, they are overwhelmed by not just by the culture but by the sights, the sound and indeed the smells. So what we are trying to do is to investigate the new technology, see if it’s credible enough to add to our serious games simulation,” said Professor Bob Stone, University of Birmingham.
Aviation fuel, garbage, body odor, burning rubber, new sewage and hospital smell are some of the smells that appeared in the BBC video interview. “These smells are created by an American company and what’s interesting is the hospital smell that I have here,” said one of the observer while referencing to the hospital smell palette. “It is apparently very definitely an American hospital, and a British hospital for example or definitely an Iraqi hospital for example would smell completely different. So, there’s a lot of fine tuning you could do with all these scents.”
